My extremely talented friend, Sarahfae, is the creator and cook behind the blog “Addicted to Veggies.” Over a year ago I requested that she make a recipe with coconut. She did and it was amazing. Unfortunately I have been the biggest jerk ever and did not make her a thank you gift until this challenge gave me the push to do so.

I chose a fabric with flamingos because I know how much she loves them. The pattern was very straightforward to sew…. but that may be because I make things up as I go along. Basically, I used the pattern pieces and not the directions :) The black strip along the top of the fabric is sewn in one continuous piece instead of three separate pieces like the pattern suggested. I applied it the same way I would apply binding to a quilt. It’s hard to see in the pictures, but the black fabric along the bottom and sides is gathered.

This is my go to pattern for aprons. It’s quick, cute, and functional!

In my past life I was a flapper. Today, I am not as exciting. I just like to read, sew, quilt, cook, obsess over Old Hollywood stars, and design things on the computer.

  1. Aprons make wonderful gifts. I’m sure your friend will absolutely love this one. So cute!

  2. I like how the black ruffles pick up the beaks. Super cute and I think your friend will be pleased.

  3. Cute! I love the flamingos – so adorably retro without being as cliche as a fruit apron (as darling as they are).

  4. Flamingos rule. Love the black ruffle contrast.
