The “Hills are Alive” Dress
• The Facts
I was so excited to have an opportunity to make up this pattern that Adey sent me after I won her surprise giveaway last year. This very special pattern deserved a fabulous fabric, and so I pulled out another length of this beautiful silk/cotton blend jacquard that I am absolutely in love with.
To be perfectly honest, this was supposed to be last week’s VIP fabric challenge dress, but I just could not find the time and/or motivation to finish the darn thing.
Instead of stressing myself out, I decided to push the project forward to this week’s challenge.
As I was working with the fabric, I was reminded of images taken at sunset of the hills in Marin County,CA.
The color of the fabric looks just like the brown and purple shadowed hills that I am lucky enough to see each and every day. At the moment, the hills are green, but in a few months all of the grass will turn golden and the hillsides will be spotted with green trees.

Beautiful dress! Lovely job matching fabric and pattern.
Very lovely dress and photos. I really like the pattern and the fabric choice too.
A perfection union between fabric and pattern. Great colour on you too.
What a fabulous pattern and that fabric is divine, really beautiful
The colours are so beautifully delicate and shine. I love the pattern’s gathers, the ones on the skirt reflecting those on the bodice. And your hair styling is fantastic!
