What a wonderful weekend! For one of my daughter birthdays, we went to Preston Vinyard and Farm for a family picnic. It’s not often that I get to be with all of my daughters at the same time, and take pictures of us all together. The weather was very warm, almost hot, and so I was able to wear one of my favorite creations. I really don’t remember what the make up is of this particular fabric, but it is a little see-through, so I lined the bra part. The bottom is cut on the bias, so it lays very nicely over the body. The spaghetti straps are turned easily with a thin metal gismo that is made exactly for that.
Preston Vinyard is a wonderful place for a picnic. There are spacious grounds with  eclectic colorful chairs, outbuildings, a tasting-room, and huge wine barn. They sell fresh eggs, daily baked bread, produce, and of course, their own bottled wine.
As you can see, I have a beautiful bunch of girls to call my own. I am proud to say that they are all very artistic and creative, each in their own way. I think they all take after me to some extent. We get together as much as possible these days to have some quality girl time. One of the  required shots we always take is the “jump shot”. It’s always good for a laugh. Have a great week of sewing!

Barbara is a resident of Northern California. She loves to sew and has pledged not to buy retail clothes for the year of 2012. That means she has to make her own, or buy it at a thrift store. I hope she doesn't spend too much on fabric. When she shops for fabric her eyes light up as she imagines the possibilities! She's like a kid in a candy store.

It has cold and horrible and wet here in Manchester since I came back from Italy ten days ago, your lovely pics really make me long for a break from this weather!

  6. Hey Barbra, great jump shot, what a great tradition. I may have to start that one with my brothers. Love the top and it drapes beautifully.

  8. Awesome top! I’m going to have to look into that spaghetti-strap maker!

  9. How fortunate you are to have FOUR daughters. I have one and imagining her four times over is too much joy! Oh, of course — beautiful top!!!!

  10. That’s such a gorgeous print, it’s floaty light and I love the mix of pinks and limes. I’ve been contemplating adding a strap/bias turner for a while as a worthwhile addition to my tools….I think I need to take the plunge. Lovely pics with your daughters, I love how they all look so different but so alike.

  11. Just lovely! The shirt and your family :)

  12. Lovely fabric! Your blouse is perfect for the summer!

  14. Wow, Barbara. You are a hottie in that top! Thanks for sharing photos of your beautiful girls.

  15. What beautiful ladies you have!! You look like their sister not their mom in that slinky cami!! I love how you styled it with the hat and sandals, too.

  16. I agree with Nettie on first view I thought these gorgeous girls were your girlfriends and not your daughters, how lucky they are to have such a wonderfully creative mum. I bet you have had to whip up some creations for your girls at some stage. Beautiful floaty top Barbara perfect for a trip to the vineyard.
