With the last minute change to “Green for St. Patrick’s Day”, I pulled out the pattern I used for week 2′s challenge. Luckily there are only 5 pieces to the pattern and this time I made it with pockets. The fabric was found on sale in an remnant pile at Sav-o-thon for $10 last Sping. It feels silky but definitely some kind of polyblend and since this dress needs only 2 1/4 yards, it worked perfectly. The fabric caught my eye because it has a bit of a shimmer to it with horizontal texture lines. The fabric color and design felt like the green fields of Ireland and I think the blue flowers bring out the color of my eyes. I feel “lucky” to have an additional piece for my wardrobe!

  1. Love the print on the fabric! It has lovely drape and the print is just gorgeous. Nice job on this week’s challenge!

  2. The colours, the fabric, the cut – the whole thing is so perfect on you! Those really, really are your colours! And I love the blue umbrella. It’s the finally fabulous touch.

  3. I love this dress! It’s very flattering and looks super comfortable. Those are two words that should always go together. I may have to get this pattern.

    • Hi Clarissa,
Thanks and Yes, I agree with those two words! I learn or should say realize now – the simple patterns often work well with a complicated fabric design.

  4. Ditto what The Dreamstress said. I read what I originally typed before looking up and seeing my words almost verbatim. So, I’m piggy-backing my compliment. Pathetic, I know..but so true this time. I really do like this, Krista…definitely eye candy for me.

  5. Hi Najah,
Great to hear from you, thank you so much. I’ll be wearing this often, I’m definately in love with the colors. Spring is in the air, looking forward to seeing your creations. Loved the Vincent pants last week. I need to do pants, maybe I’ll start with shorts.

  6. This dress looks fun…..you look great!!!

  7. Another very becoming outfit! I always look forward to your posts and creations.

    • Thank you Barbara. I feel the same way about your creations, often I find my self saying, I got try that. I truely enjoy sewing and the feeling of a sewing circle that Mena has provided. I can’t wait for next weeks MadMen, should be very cool.

  8. Gorgeous, and so flattering! I am going to have to try this pattern myself.

  9. Hi Taracat
Thank you, yes – definately try it. I can see myself making more, one thing I’ve learned from SewWeekly is you can get several uses out of a pattern. Before I would make a pattern one time and then move on. Have a great weekend.

  10. At this rate, I am going to be buying more patterns. Great dress and look.

    • Thank you Liza, this dress is so comfortable, it worth buying the pattern. I got my on sale from simplicity, they have great sales a few times a year when patterns are just $1.99. I also like the Vogue Pattern site, they also sell McCalls and Butterick. These days very few stores carry patterns, it’s a much better selection online. Happy sewing

  11. Looks great! Love the fabric, and that’s a very flattering style! Thinking I might want to look that one up for myself!

    • I bought it last summer but I’m sure someone is selling a copy online. I checked simplicity and didn’t see it listed. I thought if I found it I could send you the link.

  12. What a lovely dress! The fit and the fabric are amazing. I am going to find this pattern, I only hope I can make it sing as you have. Great work! Thank you for sharing.

  13. Oh, thank you Frances. You’ll love the pattern, it is really fast to put together and I love the pockets.

  14. Krista you are too clever. You look fabulous and your dress look über chic on you. Love your photos too,
