I couldn’t resist the title especially as my last project was Dorothy related. I started this dress for the ‘Make This Look’ week and set aside my weekend sew it up, then I got a phone call from work as someone had called in sick and my sewing time disappeared. I ignored the dress for a while feeling disappointed I hadn’t made the deadline then when this challenge came up I went back to it. I don’t tend to have many UFO’s lying aro
und, I can’t start a new project with something left unfinished but I can just ignore the current project and leave it unfinished.
I really love this dress! It went together quickly and easily and I like making darts and pleats and this dress has both. The huge bow was what drew me to the pattern and I actually picked it before thinking about doing Sew Weekly! I wanted a dress for a wedding I am going to this weekend and being February I didn’t want anything too summery. Lots of people associate taffeta with ’80′s prom dresses but I *think* I have avoided that look! My lovely boyfriend helped me pick the fabric colours though the taffeta was described as teal, it is more emerald green to me though it does seem to photograph with less green so I can see why is was listed as teal. I also love that I can wear it different ways, with the bow at the front or back or with it tied more like a sash. I think on the day I will tack the bow so that it stays where I want it and doesn’t flop about. Not the best outdoor pics but I was sliding all over the icy garden in those shoes so had to stand on the mat!

gorgeous!
You will be the belle of the wedding, it is lovely
What a gorgeous dress and it suits your shape beautifully.
Thank you! My weight has been creeping up and I am finding it harder to find things that look good on me but I think this pattern works well.
I love it! Great job :-)
Like the two shades of green. The dress is an adorable silhouette on you.
Thanks! It took me an age to find two complementary shades, in the end my boyfriend suggested the sash colour!
I usually don’t go for bows, but I love how yours turned out. The contrast fabric was a great idea.
Thank you! I love bows but I think this is the first dress I hvve sewn with them on!
