Hey guys I’m back this week for the Red challenge! Life got in the way last week and I also didn’t get a chance to comment on my last post but THANK YOU everyone who left a comment. I really appreciate it.
I started this dress eons ago. But I kept putting it off. I was inspired by this lovely dress Dita von Teese wore:
Perfection amiright?
I did have plans to add sleeves and make the skirt slimmer, buuuut I got kinda lazy and just wanted to finish it. :P
Here’s my finished version:
I really love how it came out! Also a va-va-voom dress like this needed long hair so I cheated a bit with a wig lol.
I pretty much used the pattern as is. I did have to fiddle with the bodice quite a bit but that’s to be expected.
I had inserted a center back, hand picked, lapped zipper but I didn’t love how it looked so I went to go insert it by machine and then, well got lazy again and decided to try the Mena test. It slid right on! No zipper required. So that was a bonus.
The bodice is lined but not the skirt. And the hem is hand finished with some red lace.
I only wish I had somewhere to wear this dress to tomorrow for V-Day but maybe I’ll just wear it anyway around the house. :D
With a dress like this you had better make some plans, and quick! You did a fabulous job. How amazing to just be able to slip it on, and it flatters your figure as well.

Gorgeous – the long hair really sets it off but I suspect that it will look flash with your cute short hair.

That’s a fabulous dress! I like that it’s flattering but also because you haven’t made the skirt into a wiggle, it’s going to be sexy comfy. And you seriously suit red. I also love that you seem to be going for a different colour hair/wig/hat…head covering every week haha. I’m quite in awe as a woman who’s roots are in serious need of some red dye and have been for a couple of weeks. Love the fun you’re having in the photos.

Jaw-dropping bombshell! Great fit. I like yours better than the original– with a less wiggly shape below the bodice you’re more likely to wear it often.

The drape on the dress is awesome! I wouldn’t have thought to use wool suiting. Great job!
Thank you! Well I’ll be honest, I used the wool because its a red orange color like the inspiration and it was CHEAP! But it sewed up nicely so I’m glad I choose it.
