Hot! The ‘Blooming Marvellous’ Shorts

The Facts

  • Fabric: Cotton plaid
  • Pattern: Colette Patterns Madeleine Bloomers
  • Year: 2010
  • Notions: Some left over yellow ribbon in my stash
  • Time to complete: A couple of hours
  • First worn: Today
  • Wear again? Yes
  • Total price: £3 (The fabric was from the remnant bin in my local fabric shop and the pattern was free – I do love a bargain!)

For the first time this year, I managed to finish a challenge in time. Hoorah! Ok, so I cheated and I made small little bloomers but hey, I’m not complaining as I still haven’t finished my UFO from last week’s UFO challenge…

Does it still count as part of the red theme if there is only a bit of red in it? Unfortunately I’m just one of those people that clashes with red and I wouldn’t want to inflict anyone with images of that! I would definitely recommend this project to everyone, it’s really quick, easy and great as a beginner’s project. The only alteration I made was to alter the position of the ribbons from the front to the side, so you can’t really see them in the pictures.

Handmade By Freya

Freya caught the sewing bug a couple of years ago and is now pattern and fabric obsessed! She desperately needs to commit to making things weekly as her fabric stash is out of control.

  1. I’ve been meaning to try this pattern. I’ll have to give it a go. Great job!

  2. Every projects counts and even better if you wear it often.

  3. Too cute Freya, I’m going to have a go at these. Use up all my scraps :) Of course it counts.

  4. it is pointless to make something in a colour that you would really not want to wear – there’s enough red in it for me. Cute and fun.

  5. Super cute! I’ve wanted to make this pattern up too. Love the plaid.

  6. I want to make these! They would be cute pjs.
