This week has been hideous for me. There has been a bit of a stomach bug going around our family and I happened to get hit with it at the start of the week. I was hoping to feel better on Tuesday so I persevered with my dress hoping I would be well enough on Valentine’s Day to wear it out but unfortunately I was in bed sick.
I did continue with making the skirt though which turns out to have not been the wisest idea. It seems that when I am sick all sense of logic goes out the window and I ended up with a skirt that is slightly too small for me. For some reason I decided it would be cute to have the waistband overlap at the end and do up with a button. But when I made this decision I forgot that I had already cut out my waistband and not allowed for this additional length. Hence, the skirt now being too small.
I do still like the skirt though. It is so simple to make but I think the trim adds a really nice detail to make it look a bit more polished. I think when I eventually get around to adjusting it to fit me I will get a lot of wear out of it. But knowing my history with mending and altering I don’t think that will get done for a while.
