Hot! The Week in Review

Can I just say that I was absolutely blown away by all of the contributors this week? In total (a couple are still in the queue), we had 105 contributor posts! Since it wasn’t tied in to an actual sew-this-week challenge, I won’t expect the numbers to be so high next week. Still, if there was only a fraction of that many posts, we’re in great shape! All of this energy has totally reinvigorated me with regard to sewing and The Sew Weekly. Because I spent most of the last two weeks working on the redesign and getting ready for all of the new contributors, I was a little burnt out on web development. Plus, I was a little burnt out on sewing (you can imagine). Seeing so many excited faces contributing and reading all of the interviews has massively jump-started my enthusiasm! Thanks, everyone!

And since I’m on a stats kick since my infographic post, here are a few facts about this week:

In site administration news, I’m working on an FAQ for visitors so that they can easily navigate all the new content. Additionally, I’ll be sending the contributors an FAQ answering most of the questions that folks have had. There have been very few hiccups this week, but I’m still sorting out some technically issues for folks. If you requested to be a contributor and didn’t hear from me, please let me know!

Yay to everyone! Looking forward to next week!

Mena Trott

Mena Trott started The Sew Weekly to document her attempt to sew all of her own clothes in 2010. Since then, she's made over 125 outfits and has way more clothes than she needs.

  1. Oh wow! My move from Virginia to New York this month means no representatives from VA :( but a tie with Chicago for most contributors hehe :) I’ve enjoyed reading all the interviews during my travels this week, even if I haven’t been able to comment on all of them. Love these charts, Mena!

  2. Wooooh Brisbane Australia REPRESENT! I love the info-graphs :)

  3. Yeah Australia!!! That is awesome! Will be great to see people posting garments living in different hemispheres and thus different climates! :-)

  4. Nice work Australia! But also am very excited about the FAQ. I’m a newbie and finding my feet without having to bug anyone will be awesome :D

  5. I’m amazed the total is only 7 for England – though it would add up to more if classed as UK and maybe tie with Australia! Love these charts.

  6. I love the infographics. The revamp has me pumped up again too. I’m so excited one of my friends is a contributor!

  7. these stat pages are like crack. how do you keep yourself from infographing everything in your life now?

  8. Oooo, after I move to LA in February, Chicago will officially be in second place! Whoops, sorry Second City!

  9. I wish I’d signed up as a contributor! It’s so exciting that there are so many, though!

  10. Liking the new energy to sew weekly. Are there any male contributor?

  11. Wow – Brisbane 3rd place in contributions this week – that is amazing! Well done to my fellow Brisbaneites! The pressure is on!!

One of the things I love most about Sew Weekly is that there are people from all over the world. What an amazing community Mena has created and how lucky are we that we have such a supportive environment to share our sewing highs and lows. 2012 is going to be great!

  12. I’m loving the stat boards!

  13. WOO CHICAGO REPRESENT! I adore these stat boards – they always make me smile!
