The “Plaidtastic Macaron” Dress

Name & Location: Lee Fulton, Brooklyn, New York

Blog: The Slow Steady (brand new!)

How long have you been sewing: Well, I learned in middle school and have sewed off and on since then, but consistently with purpose starting last year.

Why did you want to commit to The Sew Weekly Challenge: The Sew Weekly is a huge inspiration, and I want to continue to sew consistently with purpose this year.  Also, being a contributor will force me to step up in the photography/styling, which I’ve been pretty lazy about.

What do you love most about sewing garments: Making exactly what I want.

What do you hate most about sewing garments: When I’ve worked really hard on a garment that is just not working.  Seeing how others get over those kinds of failures on The Sew Weekly has helped me a lot.

What do you want to accomplish this year with regard to the challenge: My guiding principles are to use what I have and try new things.  Above all, I want to learn to fit well. And make a few pairs of pants.

Your biggest non-sewing goal of 2012: Write a novel.

What are your favorite sewing/fashion blogs: The Sew Weekly, The Coletterie

  3. I absolutely adore this dress – I think it’s my favourite version of the Macaron! Loved seeing it on the Colette newsletter the other day, too, and hearing about your inspiration.

  4. Thank you! Looking forward to sewing and sharing our creations, as weekly as possible in my case. (A week is really fast in my world.)
