The “Only Dang Thing I Drafted In 2011″ Circle Skirt!

circle skirt

Name & Location: Lauren Taylor (yes that is my real last name :)), Nashville, TN

Blog: LLADYBIRD

How long have you been sewing: I’ve been haphazardly sewing since I was old enough to hold a needle & thread, but I didn’t get serious about it until about 6 years ago.

Why did you want to commit to The Sew Weekly Challenge: I love the structure & deadlines that come with a challenge – keeps me on my toes!

What do you love most about sewing garments: Besides the obvious (a beautiful garment that looks/fits exactly the way I want it to), I love the process of sewing & the self-satisfaction I get when everything is finally complete. And of course, I love the bragging rights :)

What do you hate most about sewing garments: I hate making muslins, especially when multiples are needed! I stick with them, though, because I would rather grumble about the extra step of a muslin than cry because my finished garment had something drastically wrong with the fit.

What do you want to accomplish this year with regard to the challenge: Well, first of all I don’t want to buy anymore fabric (other than what I can acquire through massive sale or flea market)! Stash-busting for 2012! Other than that, I’m not really sure. I am currently working on a coat and I am definitely going to make some menswear this year – starting with the classic button-up.

Your biggest non-sewing goal of 2012: My very best friend joined the Peace Corps last year & is currently living in Macedonia – I would love to save up enough money to visit her at some point!

What are your favorite sewing/fashion blogs: Everything on my blogroll :) My very very favorites are Gertie’s Blog for Better Sewing and Casey’s Elegant Musings.
