The Impossible Dress
Name & Location: Sarah Latchem or sorbetsurprise, Swansea in Wales though I am originally from Somerset
Blog: Sorbet Surprise gets Sew Crafty!
How long have you been sewing: Since childhood but as more serious hobby just the past 2 years
Why did you want to commit to The Sew Weekly Challenge: I am a terrible procrastinator but if I have a deadline I stick to it and I am hoping that Sew Weekly will do this for me.
What do you love most about sewing garments: The planning stage is my favourite where an idea comes together in your head from looking at patterns and fabric and working out how you can make your ideas work in reality.
What do you hate most about sewing garments: Hemming! I don’t know why but when a garment is done apart from the hem that is the time I am most likely to find cleaning the kitchen intensely interesting. I just don’t find it an interesting part of sewing a garment even though it is so nearly finished I put it off. I need to find something to make hemming interesting!
What do you want to accomplish this year with regard to the challenge: I want to increase the amount of home made everyday clothing in my wardrobe. Last year I set myself a challenge of a garment a month and now I would like to increase that. I also love to make costumes and anything for fancy dress and find this is a great way of making something that doesn’t need to be perfect to try out a new pattern or technique.
Your biggest non-sewing goal of 2012: To buy a house…eek!
What are your favourite sewing/fashion blogs: I love Lladybird, Veronica Darling, Vixen Vintage, Gertie’s New Blog for Better Sewing, Adventures in Adventuring and many more!
