How long have you been sewing: I’ve been sewing on-and-off for over 20 years!

Why did you want to commit to The Sew Weekly Challenge: I really want to spend more time sewing for myself, and I think the encouragement of the Sewweekly community will help to make that a reality
What do you love most about sewing garments: I love that I can make something fit exactly as it should, rather than compromising on fit or style because of the price tags of rtw clothes. When I make clothes for me, they always cost less than something similar from the rack and are usually better quality too. (Or maybe I just take more care of them because I spent so much time on them?!)
What do you hate most about sewing garments: I use Burda Magazine patterns most often, as the fit seems to work well for me. The part I hate most is having to trace off all the pieces from the mind boggling lines on the Burda pattern sheets.
What do you want to accomplish this year with regard to the challenge:  I hope to put more time into making clothes that suit my style, and to blog more than I have in the past. I usually spend so much time reading blogs that I don’t get to spend the time sewing, so this year I hope to do more sewing than reading about it!
Your biggest non-sewing goal of 2012: To be more organised…but that’s my plan every year, there just never seems to be enough hours in the day, to achieve everything I want to do.
What are your favorite sewing/fashion blogs: Sewing blogs have been my happiest discovery the last couple of years. Very few of my friends share an interest in sewing, so its lovely to find such a great sewing community online. My regular reads include The Sewweekly, Pattern Scissors Cloth, and Burdastyle to name a few.

  1. So I just hopped over to your blog and your Dice Kayak dress is AMAZING. I love the colors you chose and your fantastic clutch!

    • Thanks Meg – I think I’ll have to pick some less complicated designs if I want to keep up with the sew weekly challenges though!

  2. Look forward to seeing what you make Chris!

  3. I’m a big fan of the Burda magazines and know what you mean about the tracing. Still I can never quite resist them. I too had a peak at your blog and I’m with Meg on your dress and clutch. What a gorgeous fabric choice.
