Blog: Blooming in the Night

How long have you been sewing: I first started sewing when I was 13 but I took a very long hiatus during high school and college.  I have been wanting to get back into sewing for a very long time and have been working on projects here and there since then.

Why did you want to commit to The Sew Weekly Challenge: I love Sew Weekly!!!!  I have been wanting to commit to sewing a garment every week since I first started following the blog in late 2010 but have not been able to do so in 2011.  I think it is a fabulous idea and a wonderful goal to fulfill my desire to start sewing again.  And I think that 2012 is the year that I can finally commit!

What do you love most about sewing garments:  I love the technical aspects and the ability to create a garment that fits you the way that you want it to.  I love the freedom and the creativity that can come from it.  But most of all, I love the ability to CREATE.  I think it is a desire that is in all of us.

What do you hate most about sewing garments: The time it takes.  Mostly the time involved to set-up and clean-up.  Unfortunately, I do not yet have the luxury of space to be able to leave out all of my materials and tools permanently without getting in the way of someone or something.

What do you want to accomplish this year with regard to the challenge: I want to create beautiful, quality garments that I can wear again and again.  I want to expand and explore my fashion sense a little more and really work on my ability to design and construct well.

Your biggest non-sewing goal of 2012: To be more successful occupationally.  And also to train for a triathlon and marathon.

What are your favorite sewing/fashion blogs: Oh there are so many!  Of course, I love Sew Weekly!  Also Burdastyle, Grosgrain, Gertie’s New Blog…, VivatVeritas, and oonaballoona.  And I am sure that I have yet to find many more to love…
