The “Candy Stripe” Skirt

This was my second time to put in a zipper. I’m actually not ashamed by the result.
Name & Location: Liz S; Detroit, Michigan
How long have you been sewing: Less than a year but I’ve been crafty all my life.
Why did you want to commit to The Sew Weekly Challenge: I’m making it a goal to document my sewing projects and this is a good motivator. The themes give me direction when I’m floundering for what pattern/fabric/etc I want to sew next.
What do you love most about sewing garments: Having something new to wear and show-off!
What do you hate most about sewing garments: Hems. I’m so slow at construction that by the time it’s all together an all that’s left is the hem I just want to be done!!
What do you want to accomplish this year with regard to the challenge: I want to improve the speed at which I sew. I’m a total slow-poke compared to the past contributors.
Your biggest non-sewing goal of 2012: Spend more time outdoors with the sun!
What are your favorite sewing/fashion blogs: My blog-roll is a mile long, but highlights are always Gertie’s Blog for Better SewingGrosgrainSee Kate Sew, Sew Mama SewTrue Up and The Sew Weekly of course!

Liz has been sewing since April 2011 but has been crafty all her life. Her full-time job is as a museum curator at a smallish institution, where her DIY skills often come in handy. Liz likes to sew while watching TV, which she uses to measure the amount of time it takes to finish.
