The “2011 Recap” Outfit

Name & Location: Lizz Hale; Fairfax, CA
Blog: A Good Wardrobe
How long have you been sewing: After several false starts, I finally committed to learning in January 2011.
Why did you want to commit to The Sew Weekly Challenge: I was a reader of Sew Weekly in 2010 and I loved the idea of making a weekly creation. I considered signing up in 2011 but having not touched a sewing machine in years, I was worried about the commitment level. Instead, I started my own blog and set seasonal challenges for myself to see if I could stick with it. I enjoyed this immensely and now I’m looking to get involved in a larger community!
What do you love most about sewing garments: My creations are limited only by my imagination… and maybe time.
What do you hate most about sewing garments: Honestly, nothing! I may grumble here and there about a particular task but I learned long ago not to do things that I hate.
What do you want to accomplish this year with regard to the challenge: I want to become more comfortable with fitting so I plan on choosing patterns and styles that will push me in this direction.
Your biggest non-sewing goal of 2012:  I’m going to (try to) keep up with the reading for my two book clubs!
What are your favorite sewing/fashion blogs: I love Not Dressed As LambCatherine is amazing with print and color!

  1. Happy 2012 to you! I have just started reading your blog, and your things are super gorgeous!

  2. “I learned long ago not to do things that I hate.” You are awesome! Here’s to 2012 being the year of fitting. I’m hoping to get a breakthrough in that department, too.

    • No, you’re awesome! I think you’re well on your way to fitting – that last skirt was perfectly tuned. I find that sometimes it’s recognizing fit issues that I struggle with the most. Years of putting up with ready-to-wear fit can leave one feeling a bit lost!

  3. Thank you Lizz for the link to Not Dressed As Lamb – you are such a sweetheart! I’m in awe of sewers as my mum is a seamstress, I look forward to getting some inspiration from you in 2012! I’m no sewer but I do like to recycle/DIY and should do it more!
