My Introduction …

Name and Location: Jennie Fear from Philadelphia, PA

How long have you been sewing: I have been sewing since I was 7 years old … I still remember my first project was a stuffed goose that I gave to my Mom.

Why did you want to commit to the Sew Weekly Challenge: My first job out of college I worked for a cut and sew knit manufacture aiding in developing the children’s wear line.  I have to say it was then that I realized this what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.  I currently own my own company and make custom christening gowns along with a small line of girls sewing patterns.  I joined the Sew Weekly Challenge so I would be more motivated to sew for myself.  I find I am always sewing for others.  Please take note the most recent of photo of me with a garment I’ve sewn is one of me holding my daughter in an outfit I had sewn for her … LOL

What do you love most about sewing garments: My favorite part of sewing has to be taking a pattern and making it mine.  I can never follow a pattern completely.  I have to change it some way; like by adding little details like fancy top-stitching, contrast lining, etc, anything that reflects the person who will be wearing this garments personality.

What do you hate most about sewing garments: The worst part about sewing is having to cut out the pattern!  I would get a lot more sewing done if I didn’t spend half my time procrastinating inorder to avoid cutting out the pieces.

What do you want to accomplish this year with regard to the challenge: I would like to make more items for myself.

Your biggest non-sewing goal of 2012: Organize our family photos.

  1. Hello! I’m in Philly too! We (my beau and I) moved here in June of 2011. I’m still working on getting friendly with the city…

  2. Love the picture! That’s great that you made both of her outfits and I love that you’ve been sewing so long. Looking forward to seeing more creations :)
