Bio and My favorite completion of 2011
Name & Location: Eleanor, just outside of Ithaca NY
Blog: **i NEED to start posting here more** http://abstruse-blacksheep.blogspot.com
How long have you been sewing: I’ve been sewing for about 10 years now, since I started by making my dress for junior prom
Why did you want to commit to The Sew Weekly Challenge: I’d like to start making more things for myself and my children.. For my business I’m almost always making things for other people.. as a parent we often tend to do for others first.. my wardrobe is in dire straits.. <3
What do you love most about sewing garments: the wonderful feeling of creation.. in every step of the process
What do you hate most about sewing garments: When I make a simple mistake, over and over again.. and become best friends with the lovely seam ripper
What do you want to accomplish this year with regard to the challenge: I am always excited to learn and expand my library of knowledge and sewing terms and skills.. plus, i’d like to mix this with a few other blogs and challenges I have been watching off and on over the last year.. mostly the lifetime wardrobe stuff over at http://rhinestonesandtelephones.blogspot.com/
Your biggest non-sewing goal of 2012: better organization and a smoother running at home time with my family.. a better ballance between work and at home work
Favorite Sewing/Fashion blogs: http://malepatternboldness.blogspot.com/ http://rhinestonesandtelephones.blogspot.com/ and http://www.blogforbettersewing.com/ **though there are atleast fifteen others that i flip through regularly

The Facts
Fabric: red taffeta
Pattern: Vogue 8743
Notions: Zipper in the back, black edging, black crinoline under, and shawl that I crocheted
Time to complete: I think this dress can be done in one day if you are able to sit and do it
First worn: 10/15/2011
Wear again: Most certainly… I love the 50s look and the ease of the pattern..
Total price: I think it was around $40 for the fabric and everything
I also lowered the neckline and made the dress in a lovely stretch corduroy

beautiful dress – looking forward to seeing more!
Hey! Where around Ithaca are you from? I hail from (the oh-so-small) Trumansburg originally… Lovely dress, by-the-by.
Tina, my best friend is living in Tburg now.. and I’m on the otherside in Newfield
Oh, wow! That dress is fabulous and I love it paired with the cons :) Thanks for the shout-out!
I LOVE LOVE all your lifestyle wardrobe, thrifty 365 etc.. I’ve even thought about instilling and following the fabric/notions rations that we were given in the 40s for myself for the year.. but I’m still debating <3
I adore the colour and the cut of this dress, so eye catching!
