Hot! MTL: Blue Ribbon Pie Skirt

Today (better late than never) is another separate! Yet another garment from Modcloth (what can I say, they sell great clothes), the Blue Ribbon Pie Skirt seems a bit more complicated than it is. The buttons and panel on the front of the skirt are decorative and the pockets are simply placed on top of the dress. Even if you omit the pockets, it would be a pretty cute dress!

Original Inspiration

  • Here's a tutorial on how to make a faux placket for the buttons. Note that this method will not have the contrasting pattern cut on the grain. If it was me, I'd sew a faux placket on top of the skirt (before the top skirt facing is sewn and the hem is finished).
