  1. I am very pro-hats.
As a Mediterranean archaeologist, I started wearing them for my first season of fieldwork to avoid sunstroke and squinting headaches.
Now I wear hats for all seasons. Felted Italian wool hats for winter, thinner felt hats for spring and autumn, wide-brimmed sun-hats for summer, a sturdy woven medieval-style hat for gardening. If I’m not wearing a hat, chances are I’m wearing a headscarf.

  2. I love the idea of wearing hats, but I’m too chicken to wear them sadly. :-(

  3. I love hats! I don’t wear them as much as I’d like to but I’m working on learning to make my own! Check out one I made here: http://star-spangledheart.blogspot.com/2011/04/easter-bonnet.html

  4. I’m a big fan of hats, especially in the winter because I am a wuss and am ALWAYS cold. I’m not sure if you planned it this way but they Kentucky Derby is also coming up (I’m from Lousiville) and everybody here goes hat crazy for derby. Ladies have to wear something big but still keep it classy.

  5. I absolutely love wearing hats! But, my hubby just laughs at me every time I put one on, so I stopped doing as often as I used to. I keep them in hat boxes now, and adore their lovely-ness

  6. I have always loved hats and have a large collection. In my 20s & 30s I looked great in them. In my 40s I more or less didn’t go anywhere so I stopped wearing them. Now in my 50s, I have dusted them off but I look like a crazy old lady in them now. Fortunately one of my daughters, now 18, loves vintage styles and looks more beautiful in hats than I ever did, so I hope mes chapeaux won’t languish in the attic any more.

  7. Minnesota requires hat wearing, but otherwise I just wear sunhats at the beach or poolside, to save my skin from the ageist sun. I’d love to embrace more hats as Spring accessories, but haven’t found the right ones yet..

  8. i have trouble wearing hats other than for utilitarian reasons, (cold, bad hair day), but i love them. i need to be braver.

  9. I love hats! I wear berets and slouchy hats that I knit as often as possible because they go well with casual wear, but that doesn’t mean I neglect my cloches and fedoras and porkpies! My felt hats are worn at least once a week in the winter. Summer I kind of neglect hats because it is too hot, although I have a couple of nice straw hats.

  10. I love hats but I don’t think I look good in them.

  11. I love hats…love, love, love them! I wear them for practical reasons (sun, cold, etc.) and just for fun. A couple of years ago, I made a pretty dress to go with one of my favorites: http://www.flickr.com/photos/quixoticpixels/3655392970/in/set-72157620416132062

  12. Even my own mother thinks I look bad in hats. I only ever wear one when necessary. Oh and if I ever get married there are no hats allowed at my wedding. I will have a door bitch that will forcibly remove them if needed, I decided this after my cousin wore something that looked like a bird had died on it (legs included) to her daughter’s wedding.

  13. Love the hat!

  14. I love hats – but always feel silly wearing them (except for Melbourne Cup or a day at the races). So unfortunately, it is just the sun hat for me when I’m in the garden or at the beach.

  15. I am an Earth in Allah’s 5% Nation of Gods and Earths so I wear a headcovering every day. I appreciate hats, because some days I prefer to blend rather than stand out

  16. I love a good hat, even a bad one usually has some redeeming features. I feel ever so nicely turned out in a hat (and gloves and hoisery and lipstick…)

  17. Knitted berets during the colder months – I have a great pattern. I have started to wear a straw hat in summer months and (shame) the odd baseball hat when needed :-)

  18. I love hats! I collect vintage hats, and it’s fun to wear them with the vintage dresses that I have. It feels nice to dress up like a lady, and bring a little bit of nostalgia back. I usually wear them to church, complete with the vintage shoes, purse, & hoisery. People always comment on the outfits, & they think its fun to see what I will be wearing from week to week!

  19. I LOVE wearing hats! I always get compliments whenever I wear one. Though I confess I’ve actually neglected them a bit of late in favour of styling my hair in victory rolls – partly because I’m yet to find an ideal hair style for wearing a hat. Plus the good ones are always really expensive (I’m not lucky enough to have affordable vintage available locally, so I rely on shopping online).
