Hot! A Sew Weekly Gathering/Swap

image from I'm in the early stages of planning a gathering and fabric/pattern swap for readers of The Sew Weekly. If you're in the San Francisco Bay Area and would be interested in attending (some time in late February, most likely), leave a comment. Once I have a good idea of the number of people who are interested in joining, we'll decide on a venue.

Update: We have a date! Please RSVP via Facebook if you're going to attend. If you don't use Facebook, just leave a comment in this thread to let me know you'll make it.

Mena Trott

Mena Trott started The Sew Weekly to document her attempt to sew all of her own clothes in 2010. Since then, she's made over 125 outfits and has way more clothes than she needs.

  1. Definitely interested in shaking up the stash and meeting some sewers!

  2. I’m in San Francisco and I’d be very interested to see what might turn up at a swap.

  3. I’m in San Francisco and would also love to see this happen.I have some lovely pieces but really don’t see myself using them – this would be such a wonderful way to give them a good home!

  4. San Francisco is one of my favourite cities – maybe it’s time for another visit!!

  5. Unfortunately, I can’t make it but would love to know how you organize this as I would love to do something in the UK!

  6. I’m in the east bay, but I’d gladly come over to swap fabric and meet other bay area sewists!

  7. Shannon Burchard

I’m here in the city. Let me know what gets planned.

  8. I’m in the Bay Area and would be interested depending on the date :)

  9. Im in the Bay Area to, and I would come for sure!

  10. I’m in Hayward – would love to do something on this side of the bay but would consider crossing the bay to the city!
would be great to have different swap catagories- fabric/pattern/buttons- -bring a ‘unit’ and be able to swap for a ‘unit’.

  11. Ok, it seems people are definitely interested! If you know other people who are in the bay area and sew, definitely point them to this post.
What sort of day would work better? Weekend day or weekday night. I’m partial to a day time swap, but I know people’s weekends are precious.

  12. Sadly, I have a weird schedule. Don’t feel obligated to match it, but for what it’s worth…
    Best times for me:
Morning/early afternoons: mon, tues, thurs, sun
Friday evenings (I’m on call other evenings, so it’s hit and miss)
Hope to make it, but if not this time, then maybe some time in the future.
    Thanks so much!

  13. Yes please! Evening or weekend would be preferable…

  14. ya. that sounds fun! any time after the 19th I could make it!

  15. How about a meetup at the Alameda Antique Faire, where you can show me your shopping secrets?
Or you can keep your secrets all to yourself…weekend daytime is fine by me!

  16. Ooh, sounds fun! I’d love to come. Sometime during the weekend or weeknight would be best for me.

  17. I’d be up for it!

  18. I wish !!

  19. Future swaps, yes, but this month is way too nuts.

  20. I’d love to come – but weekends are sort of my only option – as I work during the week.

  21. If it happens in San Francisco, I am IN! Just about any weeknight works for me. Weekends I’m often away or booked, but if would attend if possible. What a lovely idea, and thanks for doing the groundwork.

  22. I’m totally there-That day is perfect.

  23. I am interensted, keep me posted of the date you chose.
A Sunday afternoon would work for me.

  24. Update: We have a date. Please RSVP via Facebook if you’re planning to attend. The venue will be announced once I have a better idea of how many will attend.
