Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Happy St. Patrick's DayOn Wednesdays — when I go into the office — Penelope’s caretaker, Gemma, is a wonderful Irish woman who shows her a far better time than I ever do. Luckily, St. Patrick’s Day fell on a Wednesday and they have a big day ahead of them celebrating the festivities at a local event. I’m actually quite envious of Penelope today.

Of course I had to make Penelope her own St. Patrick’s Day dress. The dress is based on the most versatile pattern I have in my collection — Simplicity 3854. I absolutely adore this pattern because it’s not only incredibly easy to sew, but because it is simple enough to lend itself to variations. Here, I lengthened the hem and added the embroidery on the bodice. In the upcoming days, I plan on writing about all the dresses I’ve made using Simplicity 3854.

  1. That is so sweet. And I love the red Dorothy shoes with it. Ah, sometimes I wish I’d had a girl. But only when I see cute little dresses. :)

  2. SO CUTE! Love the green on her. I will need to check out that pattern – thanks for posting the name of it! :)
My daughter has those same shoes and asks to wear her “Dorothy Shoes” every single day, even though they’re now way too small for her. Something about those things are irresistible to toddler girls!

  3. AWWW Penelope is so adorable, and I love the dress on her!
