Another Philomena, Another Quest
Lauren's post about her quest to recreate her grandmother-(in-law)'s* dress has led me to want to recreate the dress seen in the photo to the right. That's my grandmother and based on the age of her son in another picture, it should have been taken around 1947 or 1948. I'd probably date the dress/pattern a few years earlier, however. I don't know if it's a handmade or a store-bought dress, but I figured that there's probably a pretty close facsimile in existence. I could always ask my grandmother, but I know she wouldn't know the pattern number if it was indeed handmade. My guess is that it's store-bought since the belt looks to be leather and matches the sleeves. Still, it's worth a try.
Does anyone have a clue whether there's a pattern out there that fits the bill? I've searched for sash waist and two-tone collars, but no luck.
*The title of this post refers to my grandmother's name — which also happens to be my name as well. But that's not the other Philomena I'm referring to. The name of the grandmother from Lauren's post happens to also be Philomina.
